Hello, my name is Jody. I guess I just wanted to make a public announcement about this, so as my sig details below, I'm making the change from TigerXero to OtterXero (username-wise). There are a number of reason why I am actually doing this, one being because I feel that the otter (specifically the Northern River Otter) is what I guess you could call, for me, an animal spirit, at least a guide for me during the meditation I'm begining to learn and hopefully in Reiki when I eventually get around to learning that. Also, If you read about the different personality types associated with the four elements, I find I'm an air and water person predominantly with a mix of earth (probably from all the leadership training I've had) but lacking in fire, so you can see how the otter is rather appropriate, i being a rather playful (air) animal but obviously liveing and hunting in the water but also being capable of crossing land. I also happen to use primarily three online aliases, those being TigerXero, EagleXero, and OtterXero, which each correspond to earth, water, and air respectively (and I didn't realize this until just recently). Point being, this air/water and earth symbolism keeps appearing for me, so I'm going to run with it. Also, during my first meditation experience yesterday, while we were doing breathing exercises, it was causually suggested envisioning this golden aura around your body that you are breathing in and out, but my mind, while focusing on my breathing, very much rejected seeing a gold color and instead saw a white one for whatever reason. I at first thought this was perhaps because I often take on aspects of those I become friends with (e.g. their mannerisms) and likewise white can easily change its color if it comes in contact with another, but after meditating on this for a while and continuing to hone (sp?) my focus on my breathing (and trying not to think about why I was experiencing what I was ^^; ), I suddenly realized that what I was seeing in my minds eye (a.k.a. visualizing) was not just this white aura around me, but rather snow... snow that was just falling all around me as I sat meditating alone in the emptiness of my mind (third person POV). The room we were in was warm from the 18 or so other people that were in there, but for whatever reason, I also then began breathing in what felt like cold air, and I'm sure this was a completely psychological effect from what I envisioned, but yeah... so, all that aside, I'm running with the Otter thing, the embodiment of an air person and a water being.
Also, Scotty's ridiculously adorable sea otter avatar and otter sig keeps reminding me of my desire to change my username ever time I see it. TigerXero will always have a place in my heart (lol) as my first online alias, a source of strength and a foundation (earth!) from which I began, but it's time for me to make the transition to Otter.
Also, speaking of the Death and Rebirth theme for which I named this post, I want to become more active on these forums, and I feel TigerXero was sort of a bridge for me to develop up to point where I could start to call these forums home. A lovely message from Daniel also made it more apparent that I had changed a lot since I first came her over a year ago I believe, and I definitely would like to work up to the point where I could be called one of the 'regulars' (and maybe eventually elder? Lol, I think I need to be older) on this site.
So, I guess without further ado, I'm making the change. I'll keep a link to my old profile available this one somehow so that I can always access and see my old posts. Anyway, again, the name's Jody, and I'm glad to as always to be here with you guys!
[Edit: Oh! And btw, I am studying Taoism and Buddhism with the intent of looking into Zen Buddhism, so yay~!]
