Hello

It is a pleasure to be accepted here, thank you for receiving me as a member.

Many years ago I was in Brazil working as a Seventh-day Adventist Pastor (which was and still is my passion) when someone sent to me a copy of "Stranger at the Gate". That was the first book I ever read in English, although I did not even know I was able to do it. The book gave me a very strong vision about what could happen in my life as a result of working for a very conservative church and struggling with homosexuality, and it was very scary for me.

Many things change since that time. Change came with pain, tears, fear and rejection, but also with acceptance, perseverance, endurance, hope and love.

Today I am divorced, living in Concord (East Bay Area), California, with my partner and my 17yo son that recently came to live with us and am finishing a Masters in Social Work at California State University East Bay.

It is a dream for me to be able to meet Mell White in person one day. That would be very remarkable since he left such a strong impression in my heart sharing his story through the book. I imagine how many more people around the world were touched by his testimony.

Could you please tell me if Soulforce has a chapter in San Francisco? It would be interesting to meet people face to face.

thank you very much again

Wow. Sounds like you've been through a lot and have learned a great deal in the process- the last part of your first sentence above is what this forum is all about. I think you will find the members here share your sentiment.

My husband is finishing his MSW at Hunter here in NYC. That's a long process too. :D I'm sure you could compare notes.

Welcome to Soulforce!

Thank you Gennee, Scott and Daniel for the warming welcome.

Daniel you are right, it has been a lot to change and to process. It is so good to be in contact with people that understand the emotional impact and the challenges we have to face, the process is long, it gives me the impression we pass the whole life coming out in different ways, including within ourselves.
Daniel I would be happy to be in contact with your partner too.
