I'm teaching about it in my music classes today. We're listening to some music, singing a song or 2 and learning the history behind the date.
I'm also stopping for a margarita after work with some of my colleagues. :D

I don't konw anything about it really... but I convinced my mom that we have to go out for mexican food and have fun watching people around us get waisted. :D

Celebrating by babysitting little boy who's home sick :(
Not my little boy, but he's the sweetest little thing, sleeping all day upstairs with a fever until mom comes home from work and takes him to the doctor...
Maybe when I'm done here we'll go eat at a Mexican place... or just have some tortilla chips and salsa :)

Only 2 people responded
RUDE!
Come on, didn't anyone else celebrate?? :(
We went out to dinner which was fun... then again, I always like going there because the waiters are a lot of fun... but still, this time there was a good reason to go:D

My school didn't even mention it. And we have a thriving bilingual program and many, many Hispanic, if not Mexican children... When I taught in Pasadena, TX, we had a Mexican principal and it was definitely celebrated. We had an outdoor fiesta, complete with several pinatas and every grade did a show with Mexican dancing, singing, and a play about Cinco de Mayo...Those were the days.
I married a Mexican, and I could have Mexican every night...you draw your own conclusions....

It sounds like Texas knows how to do it... I don't understand why they aren't better about it everywhere else!
