We have another litter of piglets. They are a Tamworth and Glouster Old Spot cross. Little red pigglies with black spots. Very adorable.:D

I grew up on a pig farm. One of my favorite memories (probably a composite) is from sitting on a bale of straw after all the piglets were born and all the sows were asleep in the farrowing crates and the heat lamps were lowered.

That'a hilarious! What a great picture of the little pig in the boots. I don't have any mud-phobic pigs. they love the wallow. They dug it themselves. It is a bit of an architectural wonder. I've thought about setting up a camera by it and having a "pig-cam" on youtube or something.

Never even been close to a pig farm, but was raised near a chicken farm that my grandpa had. He made a bed for me stuffed with chicken feathers. I took many a nap on that bed. My other grandma always had a huge garden and sold vegetables and fruit that she grew. I remember many times helping her make jellies and jams out of that fruit. Plums, figs, oranges, blackberries, strawberries, pears, and apples. I remember it so well and it makes me miss my grandma.

Redneck, you are one redneck lesbian and I am proud of you. You go girl and be as country as they come! ;)

Just a city lesbian here. I didn't know that pigs came in colors. Especially red and black. Sad to say, the only time I have seen baby pigs is when I went to the farms to visit when I was a child in elementary school and when I did my internship with Franciscan Nuns. They lived in a community and raised all types of animals, having animal husbandry degrees. They were really cute!(the pigs not the nuns). I know they are not dirty and very smart, as smart as dogs, or smarter I read somewhere.

I got chased by a HUGE pig once at a local fair. He got away and was running after me all over the building. Actually, probably not really chasing me as he/she was trying to escape from the handler.

Anyways, I love pigs. They are great at taking care of themselves and doing what comes natural. Pigs are cool. Congrats on your litter Red. Any pics to post??

I have to use the library computer so I can't put any of my pictures on.

But, you can see pictures of pigs that look like mine. Go to the webite of the American Livestock Breeds Conservancy. They are an organization for people who raise rare breed livestock. Look for pictures of Tamworth pigs and Glouster Old Spot pigs.
