I marched in the New York City pride march for the first time. It was a beautiful and warm day. I wore a black skirt, pink pullover and sneakers for comfort. I'm happy that I wore my cap because I would need it later in the parade :D.
I marched with American Veterans for Equal Rights. This is an LGBT veterans group looking to overturn 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell'. We were one of the first groups to march. There were thousands of people lined along the barricades cheering each float or contingent.
About a half mile or so from the finish the rains came. Even when the thunder flashed it did not dampen people's spirit-it sparked them. You could feel the electricity and positive vibes. I really enjoyed it.
I never saw so many LGBT people in one place and I was proud to be a part of this event. It encourages me to keep on working for LGBT rights.
