How was everyone's 4th of July? Any pictures? How about stories?
Mine... well, it wasn't really what I wanted for the 4th, because I always would rather be at some form of actual party, but it was still a really good day.
My neighbor's birthday is the 6th, but we celebrated today. It's his 75th, but his sister flew here from Reno (she's 78) to surprise him for his birthday. He hadn't seen her in like four years and when he and his wife went to the airport to get her this morning, he was in a really bad mood because he didn't he thought one of her friends was coming and he didn't want his weekend ruined. He was incredibly happy when he saw her though and he was teary-eyed after he opened the present from her (some really sweet poem-like thing that she wrote, had written nicely, and framed for him). He often has a hard time remembering things from his childhood, but tonight I think I realized that it's just because a part of him is missing, they've were very close and that's very clear.
Oh... and the fireworks there were fireworks everywhere, they've calmed down now, but they are still going and it's 12:20 AM July "5th"! The joys of being surrounded by the reservation.

I made it a specific point to get to my local Blockbuster while it was still light out in order to avoid hitting (with my car) any neighborhood explosive / sparkler enthusiasts.
I am thankful to say that I drove there, returned several movies, rented several others, and drove back (to my blacked-out ranch-style single family home) without incident.
Ahh... Sweet liberty.
P.S. I ended up watching "You Belong To me," a thriller with gay overtones.
Nice to see from that that we're not just theatrically about sex anymore... :)
*Somewhat Spoiler alert*
Fortunately though, the neighborhood fireworks kept me awake for the thankfully unambiguous ending...

My wife and I spent the latter half of the day cleaning and prepping to paint her parents' rental townhome. So later we went to get more supplies and went to eat and then we sat out on my truck bed and watched fireworks over Clear Lake which empties into the Gulf of Mexico. All in all it was a good day. I wish I knew how to attach pictures from my phone, but I took the coolest picture of double full rainbows as we were leaving the restaurant. I also took pictures of the fireworks.

I havent uploaded pics yet, but Ii plan to if I can figure it out! We got torental rains here in Michigan a few days ago and I found out that I have spot that is really low next to my house. The rain puddled there and of course leaked down into the basement! Ellie and I spent our 4th of July at Menards(for a hot lesbian date! LOL LOL) Buying rocks and drain pipe so we could dig all the way across the yard, lay the drain pipe and fix the leak problem. We put in stones also to make sure it will drain well. I did a little landscaping with a Gargoyle and it looks great and really like its part of the whole yard.
The worse part is our wedding is in 6 weeks and the ground is looking torn up so I am out there planting grass seed, clover seed and trying to reclaim it so the yard looks nice! We also had our parents out there telling us both how to do the job and we finally made them go inside and leave us alone!:lol:

There are still a few fireworks going off (12:45AM, July 6th) but they were really loud from about 9:30-11:00.

And while there are big fireworks on the East Rives, we didn't go see them- too wet and too much 'crush'- I have to confess. Getting there is no picnic- or getting back. Hubby and I much prefer the fireworks in the Park on New Year's Eve: We have a perfect view of them.
What did we do? We watched the director cut of The Two Towers, the second in The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Earlier in the day, we went to the Met Museum to see an exhibit on Turner, the British painter. That was fun and exhausting too- looking at art takes a lot of energy! ;)

Went fishing on the Big Sioux River. Watched the stars, the trees, listened to the water rushing, felt the cool breeze--finally went home around 4 A.M. It was lovely.

We crashed at home, had a couple friends over for a cook out, I drank some Gentleman Jack and smoked a couple cigars.
We watched the fireworks from our front yard topping off the night with some fireworks in the back yard with our daughter and one of her friends.

At first I read weeding, not wedding!!! LOL:lol: Wow! I hope it all is looking good before the weeding, oops, wedding. Your parents are supportive I take it? That's good if that is the case! Parents can be uh, parents, and always know how to do something-supervising, mostly. But hey, they at least come to your house. Mine are afraid of catching the "gay" disease-not AIDS, but gayness itself.:rolleyes: Congratulations to both you and Ellie. Much happiness to you both...

Our fourth was very low key this year, which we were all craving.....we have been so incredibly busy so far this summer, that we just spent Friday at home; my in laws came over for a little cookout, we just sat around talking, we had to medicate the dog twice over the weekend because she has severe anxiety from fireworks; we ended up not going to see any, really didn't seem like a big deal to miss them this year. Yesterday, we went strawberry picking, about the last of the good ones; came home with about fifteen pounds of berries, and made nineteen jars of homemade jam last night.....YUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pablo is so gullible! He forgets that I have a long history of being in theater. I can really put on a show!!:D
Pablo is a very kind, gentle soul. My ex wife really enjoyed meeting him as well. Pablo helped me loose about 10 lbs!! We did nothing but canoeing, bicycling, golf frisbee (never heard of golf frisbee before I met Pablo), walking, and walking!! :p Of course, I had to get some margaritas in as well!! I even got Pablo to have a couple of drinks!!
Sorry Pablo, wish we had the mountains you have in Colorado!
