HI! Im Storm, and I live with a family and go to a church that is very against Glbt people, which is a big problem. My friend recently referred me to an article on this website and after reading it I decided to register here. In the last few months my life has been torn apart by my religion and for a while I felt that maybe GLBT was wrong. But, fortunately after some soul searching I am pround of what I am and no one is going to change that.:)

Do I take it correctly from your name that you love teddy bears? Have you got many of them? I have a lot of teddy bears myself. :p

The people here have learned or are learning to like and respect themselves, and all gay people, and that God seems to have made us this way. Each of us has our own identity, our own orientation(s), our own friends and lovers, and our own butch-ness or fem-ness.

Many of us have found ourselves called sinners, sometimes by our own churches or families. It is nice when we can find others who affirm us, care about us, and are open to being our friends. You can always find that here.

If you live in a larger city, you can find churches that are open and affirming, and enough of a gay community to find support systems, and friends. If you live in a small town, life is difficult until you can move, or go away to school in a place with more options.

Hi Storm,

Glad to have you join us. I found your comment, "In the last few months my life has been torn apart by my religion." thought provoking. It seems for many of us in the LGBT community that religion tears apart rather than builds up. How contrary this is to the teaching of Christ. The message of the gospel is the love of God. Love does not tear down.

I was one who had been captive to anti-LGBT teachings from the church. For many years I was in captivity to that thought. Now I am free to be who God created me to be and and, like you, am proud to be who I am. Being gay is cool, am I right! :tup:

Please tell us more about yourself. We love to know everything. We are a snoopy bunch of people. :D

I am sorry to hear about your religious experiences in regard to being gay. That is so common for so many of us here. It really stinks. Just keep in mind and heart always how much God loves you, and all of us, for who we are, who he created us to be.
