Folks. We've got another marriage amendment coming to the ballot this November in Arizona. Send us your prayers, and help if you can.

Hi Z

Read about that on HRC's site. All of that makes it sound so positive, that they believe the measure will surely be defeated. Same in CA. I realize positive energy is what we need right now, but sometimes I'm not so optimistic.

Anyways, I will certainly be sending as much positive energy as I can muster along with prayers your way.:pray:

Let's not mince our words. These are anti-marriage amendments, plain and simple.

Hopefully, this stupid amendment will be defeated as in the past. I hope the people who don't want this thing will stand up and be counted. Hey, Zerb, if it is defeated does it mean that gay people can marry or just that it won't be in the constitution to prevent it? I mean its one thing to say no you can't get married and there isn't anything in the law that says you can't. Make sense?

No. If it is defeated, gay couples still cannot be married in Arizona. It will just prevent them from having to someday overturn an anti-marriage amendment in the state constitution.

The AZ state legislature passed a law prohibiting same sex couples from being married in AZ at least ten years ago. The folks pushing for the amendment want the amendment in addition to the prohibition in state law (believe they believe that someday the law may be overturned, and they know that overturning a constitutional amendment is harder to do.)
