Hey, finally good news from the land of Michigan! There is a Hate Bill legislation that has gotten to the senate here and is probably going to pass! I am so excited I can hardly stand it! It will cover not only sexual orientation, but also sexual identity expresion(TG Folk) and all other types of expresion, religion, dress and stuff. Hopefully, it will lead to safer schools via safe school acts, protection for the LGBT community at work and partner benefits. There are a few colleges here taht are bucking the constiution and offering equal protection of insurance and benefits to life partners of their faculty. There is a big uproar here in Grand Rapids but I think it will pass anyhow. Cross your fingers, the wind of change has arrived!:D:D:D:D

I really hope it gets put through. It seems that for everyone that gets passed or through senate, another one is getting put through to repeal the laws on the books for the hetero majority. My mother even got all mad about the newest thing of GVSU saying they would cover all employees with health insurance, ven those not married provided they were not family and they lived together for 18 months, in other words, partner benefits for all, hetero and homo couples. Well some Grandville senator says its against the constitution amendment that we have saying 'marriage is between a man and woman' or something like that and he wants to force then to court over it. So far, GVSU is flipping him the finger and telling him to butt out, it's their college and they will do as they please. That is how it is going for now. I swear, can't win for losing......

Wow! This is so exciting!!! That college is great! I mean seriously, what does a state's definition of marriage have to do with how a college decides who gets insurance...geez!
