View Full Version : Can an Atheist help?

Grumpy

My name is Grumpy. I was raised a Southern Baptist by my father, who was a preacher. While I finally came to an Atheistic view of the supernatural(after 18 years of sincere effort) I still adhere to the moral message of Jesus in my life.

I have studied the Bible extensively and believe there is no basis for discrimination against gays contained therein.

Is my help(whatever it's worth)welcomed here?

Welcome! Welcome!

Despite whatever bible-soaked posts you may see by me, I'm calling myself a very devout post-Christian these days. So jump right in...the water's fine! We can use all the help we can get, I've no doubt.

Welcome to the forums!

I *was* an atheist. For about 12 years. And now I'm not. Now I'm a nothing: not an atheist, not a christian, not a fill-in-the-blank-with-name-of-religion-here.

There are lots of different viewpoints among us, and we look forward to hearing some more from you.

Water's fine, yada yada.

Hi Grumpy,

You'll find kindred spirits here (oops!) :)

Like you, I've taken a different path than the one set for me by others. JC remains a big figure in my life as well.

Welcome!

As far as I’m concerned, If you believe in Love as the ruler of your life, you believe in God, and if you express that understanding by treating others the way you want to be treated, as far as I’m concerned you’re a Christian. Though calling it such is irrelevant, by me or you or what I believe to be true, and I certainly wouldn't peg you with those labels.

In fact I think it’s even more of a testament to the meaning of morality when it’s comes from those who haven’t made the decision to do and be what is “right” out of fear of a hell or for the purpose of a heavenly reward.

You’re definitely welcome here and there’s definitely a spiritual focus here and much reference God, but usually not in the dogmatic Biblical ‘I’m right and you’re wrong’ sense.

-Hope to see you around. :rainbow:

This is the perfect place for you!!!

Welcome!

There are lots of musicians on this forum - I see from your profile you're into music. I'm a classical singer. :)

Hubby & I like animals - since our lifestyle doesn't accomodate having pets, we collect plush. There must be about 75 stuffed animals in this house!

Please come back and post more whenever you like - you've found a wonderful, caring bunch of people here.

And Grumpy - you come back on in here any time too, awright?
