Where have you been girlfriend? Obviously not on the Sarah Palin thread. What am I going to do with you? Not a political bone in that yoga body of yours? I guess not. You'll all enlightenment and bendy bendy these days- not a hair out of place either. Jeez!
7 straight nights? What's that? ;)

I'm sorry. I was up on the roof for the past 4 hours.
Some people actually listened when we said we wanted/needed gift cards from Lowe's or Home Depot. We purchased the shingles and got started replacing the roof over our back porch, which was in desperate condition. We didn't quite get the shingles done before the sun went down. We did manage to lay down 9 bundles the old fashioned way, hammer and nails. No nail gun for this job.
7 Straight Nights? I'm glad to see a forum member involved in a soulforce action and talking about it!

Ellie and I didn't think to register at the Home Depot and Meynards! Even though she does the brute work, I get to add all the little artistic touches.
yes, Zerbie you are right, it seems a bit slow on the site lately, just the Palin thread we are all posting on, but we need to get people posting again.

Ah ha! It's not just my imagination. Seemed to me that Palin was all that was being talked about here, and I haven't felt like getting into that wormcan myself.
Cool on the home repair. Go for it!
If I ever stop being immersed in projects, there is a LOT to do around the house/yard etc.

Me too Zerbie. I clicked on the link you provided but there's no "7 Straight Nights" event anywhere in North Carolina. But I'm impressed with your involvement in it in Arizona.

Is the list of schools that will be visited on the site yet? I looked and saw something saying that it will be published soon but I am not sure if I was looking in the right place. We have a faith based African American university here in Greensboro and was wondering if they will be included in the tour. I would love to get involved if they are coming my way! :)

Is What I have been working on. I am not completely happy with it yet, but it is getting there. Not even sure on what to name it. Any suggestions?
Once upon a time, in the land of Equality, there lived a man who loved his son with all his heart. Three men saw the son and wanted him to be the love of their lives. As customs go, in this land of Equality, the three men approached the father to gets his blessings to pursue the love of the son. The father was wise and asked the men to come back the next day prepared to tell him what they had to offer his son in order to make him happy. He asked them to meet him by the lake near his home and it was there he would determine who would be the best suitor for his son.
When the men returned the next day, they saw the father sitting by the lake with three wooden boxes. He greeted the men and asked them if they were ready to tell him what they had to offer his son. The first one stepped forward and told the father, “I am a rich man and with me your son will have all he needs. I will clothe him, feed him, and he can live in my home. He will long for nothing. He will not have to work and my servants will bring him all that he needs. I will come to him each night after counting my wealth and we shall live happily together.” The father then told the man to repeat what he had said but this time into one of the wooden boxes. The man repeated his words into the box and the father sealed the box and put it in the lake. The winds blew from the heavens and instantly, the box sunk to the bottom of the lake. The father then explained, “Your love would be too heavy for my son to bear. Although you could give him all the wealth in the world, you cannot give him what he desires.” The first man raised his brow and turned and walked away.
The second man approached the father and the father asked, “What will you offer my son?” The second man says, “I am not a man of great wealth but I will share whatever I have. I will try to be faithful and be true to your son as long as he is there for me.” The father then repeated the instructions he had given the first man and the second man repeated what he said into the box. The father sealed the wooden box and placed it on the lake. The winds blew from the heavens above and the box was lifted up and was carried back onto dry land. The father said, “Your love will never stand the test of time, for it is to light for my son to bear.” The second man looked down and then walked away.
The father then looked at the last man and asked him what he had to offer his son. The man said, “I have brought these seeds to offer your son.” “Seeds,” The father questioned. “And what good are these seeds to my son?’ The last man said, “Together we shall plant them, water and nourish them. Together, we will watch them grow and flourish. Together, we will watch them bloom and enjoy their beauty. When the rain comes we will protect them, and when the cold comes we will keep them warm, and when they are frail we will nurse them back to health, by doing it together.” The father then asked the last man to repeat what he said into the last wooden box. The last man repeated what he said and the father sealed the box and placed it on the lake. The winds came down from heaven and blew the box around but the box continued to float. The father then turned to the third man and said, “It is you who will win the love of my son, because you understand that love is something that must be accomplished together. It is up to both to provide all that they have. It is up to both to be there for each other. Your love, though tossed around by the winds of life will continue to float because it will be done together.
The father then embraced the third man and they walked to the father’s home where the son waited. The father gave his blessings and they lived happily ever after in the land of Equality.

You're probably thinking of the Equality Ride? I think the info might be on their website now. There should be link on Soulforce's home page.

I definitely agree... lovely...
although I might think about using more literary techniques, or have the plot be slightly more complicated, its a bit of a fairytale at the moment...
but the story did have a lot of meaning

Hi. Zerbie. I just signed up for seven straight days here in New York. I will attend the Wednesday event on 9/17 and possibly the Thursday event. I'm looking forward to it.
