is a slow cooker full of a recipe known around here as Italian Roast Beef Sandwiches.
Mmmmmm, I browned a cheap roast this morning, then put it in a slow cooker with diced onions, and many (very many!) other ingredients including some acids that will help it tenderize and shred itself.
Tonight's dinner is ready for us to eat whenever we decide to sit down. That's a great feeling!

I'm trying to eat my Kentucky Fried Chicken in peace over here. Don't start talking about food that actually tastes good!

don't worry, I still haven't eaten it yet. Scott's still working on our roof, and I've been running a few errands and fielding phone calls (much to Scott's chagrin) I rationalize that I'd just be in the way..... plus, I'm the one who made the effort to make sure he has a delicious meal this evening.....

Chicken over a bed of peas and corn- in a balsamic/shallot/mushroom sauce. Am I cooking? Nope. Jonathan is doing the honors tonight.
And your roast sounds heavenly! Yum! Reminds me of the meals my grandmother would make- oh so delicious- cooking all day- so that it falls apart- melting in your mouth.
Red or White? And you KNOW what I mean!

you mean I have to choose a color????? perhaps I could go with something pink?
truthfully, I know something red and full-bodied would be great with this sandwich. but then, so would a beer! I have a nice light white open and chilled, but I doubt it will stand up to the richness of the beef.

Isn't it amazing how the cheapest cut of meat is also the best? seriously, I would choose a good pot-roast over a good sirloin any day of the week.:)

ok, I was too lazy to pull out another bottle, so I went with the white. It didn't match, but it was wet and tasted good with such a late dinner.
those cheap cuts do really well in the slow cooker, they get all tasty and tender and fall apart, mmmmm. I brought some of the meat to make a sandwich for lunch today here at school.

All ya"ll are doing is making me hungry. It's after 6 here in TX and I am hungry and my wife is playing damn Spider Solitaire, but I am playing just plain Solitaire, so I guess we're even. She gets hooked on these games and I feel kinda lonely.
