My name is Margie, and I am from Texas where the people of this state, minus about 43,000 GLBT people, voted to ban gay marriage in this state last night. I am disappointed, and very frustrated that the people of Texas will let convicted child molesters and rapists get married, but not me, only because I am a lesbian. What sense does this make? I am outraged and very upset, but I refuse to give up this fight. We are not going away because they legislate hate, we won't give up our spouses to get live the life they want us to live, we are here, we are queer, get used to it!!!!

Hi Margie, you've come to the right place then! I can't say I was surprised by the vote, but it is certainly disappointing. I know that we will have all the rights the everyone else does, someday, someday soon!

Welcome Margie. NO ONE is giving up!! I was so sad when I heard the news from TX. Then I was so angry, I wanted to go to TX and smack people! (Don't worry, I wouldn't really do it!) But finally I remembered that we WILL win and to have patience. Anger won't help, so transform it into energy to use to do good work today, tomorrow and the next day.
Having patience doesn't mean being content with the status quo, or sitting around being complacent. It just means that today we are already taking steps to WIN the next one. We aren't giving up. Things WILL move towards justice. Look how they finally did that in Maine, after so may defeats. Time to take the first steps towards winning the next one, because we ARE in this for the long haul. We're all here with you, Margie. Welcome to the boards.
