I found a lesson plan that centered on Talk Like a Pirate Day (http://www.talklikeapirate.com/piratehome.html) and included a sea shanty type song. I beefed it up, added some activities and songs, and made it a full 35 minute lesson for my classes. We talked about work songs and how important it might be to pull together to hoist the sails or pull up the anchor. We used a rope to get an idea of what it's like to pull together, then we performed some body rhythms.

and I got to dress up!

Ahoy mateys!

All the world's a stage.

You look fabulous!

(Just curious....can that parrot talk?)

that parrot is deceased!
I know a dead parrot when I see one, and I'm looking at one right now.
The plumage don't enter into it. It's stone dead.
Now that's what I call a dead parrot.
Well, he's...he's, ah...probably pining for the fjords.
THIS IS AN EX-PARROT!!

I pointed it out to my kids it was talk like a pirate day. We had fun, especially my 9 year old! Her teacher is very cool and they had a riot with it at school.

Poor Ellie! She had to hear she was my Wench all day!:lol::lol: Actually, she is butch, does that mean I am HER wench?

You look very handsome in your outfit. Make sure you use some good makeup remover to get that stuff off your eyes. Number 1 rule, never sleep in your makeup!:lol:

OOH, Keltic, if only I were straight and you were, too for that matter. Very sexy!! So did you and Scott do any role playing? I know, that would be TMI. I am glad you are having so much fun with your job. We have been out of school for a week because of this bloody hurricane. We go back Monday if the power is on. If not, we may be out who knows how long. Some districts closer to the coast are out indefinitely. It may be Christmas before they go back. A lot of the coastal communities were just flattened and look like a bomb went off. Sorry to digress.

You do look damn good!:D

We talked like pirates all day yesterday. We always celebrate TLAPD at our house and have every year almost since Dave Barry first publicized it. How wonderful that you built your music lessons around it. Would that there were more teachers like you, Keltic! Creative, energetic, going the extra mile to make school fun and interesting while still imparting important information to kids. THANK YOU for being your best self and doing your best work on behalf of children !!! Good teachers change the world !!! You are awesome

In my bicycle shop, back in the day, we were an equal opportunity employer. We have trained and employed many a Bicycle Mechanatrix. Any woman can make her way up to Mechanatrix 1st Class, by way of Mechanatrix 2nd Class.

But at entry level, you were still - Wench with a Wrench.

Keltic: I've worn plenty of makeup, in my time. But never dressed as a GUY.

Peace, Love, and Gear Heads Forever, Bruce Chris

Waj,
Huh? I am confused...Keltic was talking about his pirate lesson. How does your post have anything to do with that? Maybe I missed something...

10 points for the Monty Python reference.

I love ITLP Day. It's the high holy day of the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster (who view pirates as most view angels). Pastafarians are the most fun people alive. I love parody religions, and that's my favorite. Closely followed by Frisbeetarianism. Not a fan of Invisible Pink Unicorn though, that one is a little hostile toward religion, and while I recognize the mostly atheist body's right to criticize religion, I don't feel that most religious types have gotten that fanatically literalistic. Invisible and Pink? Is that a fair assessment of us theists/deists??
