Saving Money: Mayor Palin's town charged rape victims for medical exam
Former Alaskan Governor Tom Knowles confirmed a charge that Wasilla, while Sarah Palin was mayor, charged rape victims for forensic tests. Eight years ago, complaints about charging rape victims for medical exams in Wasilla prompted the Alaska Legislature to pass a bill -- signed into law by Knowles -- that banned the practice statewide.

"There was one town in Alaska that was charging victims for this, and that was Wasilla," Knowles said. Elsewhere, the testing ($300 to $1200) is routinely paid by the State Troopers and most municipal police agencies.

Well darn it all. If the vicitm had not worn that short skirt, she would not be in that predicament! I HATE that attitude.

In a man it is ignorance,but in a woman, it is unbelieveable! I think this Palin should have her ovaries forcably removed. Sorry if that is not peacefull and non-violent.

I happened to have been date raped and I know other people, one of them a close friend who has been and I am so tired of people blaming the victim. It's bad enough we have to blame ourselves. Did we dress to provacatively, did we make someone believe we were open to sex, did we not say no loud enough? Was it our fault we walked down the dark alley, left the bar alone, that we went without our friends?

I guess as long as society can make US pay, they don't have to try to stop the crime.
