PFLAG has announced a $500,000 grant from PepsiCo to help fund its newly unveiled "Straight for Equality" program. Click on the link to read the whole story of which I have quoted only the first paragraph.
I’d Like to Buy the World a…..Pepsi
Gay Agenda | 29 Sep 2008
PepsiCo has pushed aside boycott threats from Donald E. Wildmon’s hate and bigotry group, the AFA. and have decided to donate $500,000 to a PLFAG (Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays). The money donated to PFLAG will be used to develop and support the Straight for Equality program. The donation allow an expansion of workplace training, support chapter-based projects and fund the creation of new Straight for Equality outreach tools.

I wonder if the fundies will boycott Pepsi now? Funny, they probably don't have any idea of all the subsidiary companies owned by Pepsico - an absolute boycott would be all but impossible (and not at all effective).
Thanks Pepsico!!!

I've challenged the fundies to do just that in my last blog entry, which is still gathering comments from one crazed woman in particular!

Especially since just two weeks ago (http://www.sovo.com/2008/9-19/news/localnews/9172.cfm) Coke donated land to the Center for Civil and Human Rights in Atlanta AND the company gives domestic partner benefits.
Boycott Pepsi AND Coke at the same time? Either it won't happen or it's time to buy some RC Cola stock.

I wanted to be shocked at the rude and disgusting comments posted by those "Christians". But sadly, I wasn't. It's pretty much not a surprise to read the hate in their words. You handled it excellently Keltic. Your blog was well done, as were your responses to the crap.

I apologize for my brothers/sisters behavior. They must not know the same Jesus I do. :( The Jesus I know loves you. He also want's you to stay away from things that will harm you. He also wants to bless you out your nose!
I'm sorry again for the "Christians" being so stupid. We get that way sometimes when we allow our selfs to be worked up over stupid things.

Oh, Cosmo, I just can't stay mad at you! Apology accepted!
Are you coming over again this weekend? Remember knock twice and tap your foot!

Cosmo, she knows a Jesus that was given to her on a pulpit. You know the Jesus of the Gospels who may very well be sipping a Pepsi right now to wash down the Frito Lays he just enjoyed. ;)
Sadly, I already know a Chrsitian friend of mine who will likely send me an email on a Pepsi boycott. I will buy her a case for Christmas. ;)

Ok, you made me laugh Patrick! I envisioned 'her' opening her Christmas present to find 24 cans of Pepsi (of course, along with the announcement of the donation to PFLAG!).:love:
Hey, maybe that's the answer this Christmas. I could send a case of Pepsi (and hey, why not, Coke too!) to my fundy relatives for Christmas. It's cheap!

So Pepsi really is the choice of a new generation. A generation of love and acceptance for all.

Frito Lay is part of pepsico and has been a leader in equality in the workplace. Add some Sunchips to that case of Pepsi!

Ok, French Onion flavor!!! Maybe I"ll send them an iTunes gift card too (and remind them that Apple donated to No on 8!). :p
But then, we're starting to pass the point of 'really cheap' presents.

You can get a case of pop, some fritos, and an iTunes gift card and still be under $25. :)
