Scott,

Just wanted to ask you something. What would be the symtoms of your condition? Did you have health issues that caused your doctore to make the necessary tests? Please inform us of any symptoms that we need to look out for. Thank you.

-Matthew:)

Matthew,

Here is probably the best site I have found on Hemochoromatosis, Iron Overload (http://www.ironoverload.org/). Another good site, where you can get some things to download and take to your doctor is, Hemochromatosis.org (http://www.hemochromatosis.org/index.asp).

Both of these sites include some great information including symptoms and treatment regimes for those of us that have this issue. I have been on a lot of sites and they all pretty much say the same things. I like to use WebMD also, that is where one can get a large amount of information consolidated into one search.

As far as health issues that I have that made my doctor test me. I had a large spot removed from my back last year (cancer), because of that my doctor treats me with a little more precaution. I went in with fatigue, to the point that I couldn't function at work. I also had some joint pain in my knees and fingers/wrists. If it wasn't for the fatigue I would have just attributed the pain to my job, I work on a computer 9 hours a day. There are a few other symptoms and they all need not be present.

Please read the information and I would encourage you and everyone out there to be tested. I am here to tell you this sucks!!! The fatigue and joint pain that I am having has not been fun to deal with. I have been away from work for almost 2 weeks now because I can't stay awake. I have been sleeping 12 to 15 hours a day. The pain in my joints has prompted to doctor to give me pain killers and anti-inflamitory meds to help. I am still waiting to get into the Hemotologist so I can get on with some treatment.

This isn't to scare anyone out there. But when there is something that I can bring to the attention of people I like to do so. Read up and talk with your doctors if you think you may be at risk. Even if you think you may not be, I would recommend that you get tested especially if you are getting close to the 40 year mark or older.

Peace and love to all,
Scott
