Hello, my name is camille! I am new here. I do have a quick question, though. I have been thinking about the difference between the soul, body, and spirit. I thought that the soul was the mind, will, emotions. The spirit was the heart, and the body was of course the physical body. When I'm reading the bible, these words (mind, soul, spirit, body, heart, flesh) are used, and I know that they are used for a specific reason. Does someone have more understanding? Thanks!

As one not that well versed in the study of the Bible, I can't answer that. However, it is my belief that these words may not be used consistently, from one place to another in the Bible.

I appeal to some of our more theologically grounded members to address your question, and I'm sure that they will.

Peace and Love, Bruce Chris

That's okay. I am trying to use this online version of Strong's concordance. Some words translated heart and mind come from the same hebrew word. Whatever the case, it is clear that the focus is the inner aspect of a man. Thanks anyway.

I'm surprised that none of our regulars have posted to your opener. I hope that they do, soon.

It is my impression that the words soul and spirit have very similar meanings. Wickipedia seems to think much the same, when I enter the word soul. When I enter the word spirit, their meanings get a little more broad, and may include mind.

I suspect that if you talk to three different ministers or theologians, you will get at least three different answers.

I read a lot about Christianity, and I read a lot of books by theologians, but that only leaves me an amateur.

Why do you feel that you need to know?

Peace and Love, Bruce Chris

It's been something that I've thought about for awhile. I am studying on renewing the mind, which inevitably leads me to Scriptures about the heart, will, soul, etc...
This is a part of my endeavor to "rightly divide the word of truth." The concordance I mentioned is giving me some insight. Thanks again.
