A few hundred people rallied in central Phoenix tonight to express opposition to the passage of Prop 102 in Arizona, as we marched through the streets demanding "Equality Now."

A rally with energizing, powerful speakers --
-- a couple hundred folk standing quietly with lit candles --
and another 100 or 200 marching along the streets with signs and chanting slogans.

Everyone from clergy, to students, to civil rights veterans from the 60s, to moms & dads with kids in strollers, to the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence marched with us tonight.

We will do it again on Saturday morning.

Right on Zerbie! Yes! We'll be at the CA capitol on Saturday.

I was very happy to hear Phoenix joining in, and that is a good number. I had some conversations this weekend, how it is rarely reported the actual number. The media sometimes estimates on the low side.

Thanks, T and thanks, Rick.

I am so very excited to see Phoenix rally around this issue too. I've never seen that many people at a gay rights protest in Phoenix in the 4 or so years that I've been involved here.

And we have another rally planned for Saturday!! I am so psyched!

Someone was handing out buttons that say "Support Marriage Equality," and I ended up taking one home. I will wear it every day.
