Check out what the GLBT community is doing in Utah:

www.equalityutah.org

They have started what they call, The Common Ground Initiative. The LDS Church made many statements about not being anti-gay and even went so far as to say they support civil unions. Utah, a state not having made much progress at all in gay rights, is now taking the Mormon Church at its word and proposing 5 bills that will advance gay rights in Utah beyond any imaginable level before Prop 8 failed. As I said on another thread, these people have truly amazed me. One bill has already passed with a favorable recommendation from the legislature. If this works it becomes the model! This is brilliant....if Utah could do it, some southern states could do it too...why isn't there an emotion icon for smiling with tears in your eyes? Here's to staying hopeful!:o

WOW! That is awesome and hopeful indeed! I am really starting to think that Prop 8 passing was a good thing for the collective movement. It is the shaking that is causing the tsunami of progress that will unfold from it. What was done out of hate and ignorance is causing something beautiful to bloom. It's great to be a part of it.

Great post!!! :)

This will be interesting to follow. I also like that it is happening without violence or the suggestion or discussion as to when it is okay to be violent. Very cool.
