A good approach, but until they (the conservative right and others) open their hearts, they will never see truth. As the prop 8 musical illustrated should Jeshua (or Jack Black) tell them like it is, they will continue to "pick and choose" whatever is going to validate their beliefs. There is much more in the bible about judgmental, gossiping and a prideful heart, but those scriptures always seem to be overlooked.

I am noticing a common thread of ignorance that has been caused by the Pandora's Box that is Proposition 8. One major descrepensy that has been thrown around in out-of-state discussion boards is that Proposition 8 had to pass lest gay and lesbian couples adopt children. Mind you, most of these people are residents of states that either have no recognized civil unions for gay and lesbians, nor even adoption rights for couples.

Secondly, the precursor of the US Constitution has been brazenly proclaimed to be the Ten Commandments. However, despite claims by the Iroquois Confederacy, the United Provinces of the Netherlands' constitution provides a more likely candidate for the foundation of the American Constitution. Regardless, it is extremely doubtful that the secular founders of this nation would turn to a theocratic culture for insight on governance, especially for a federal republic.

Finally, the idea of direct democracy allowing or forbidding civil rights is arbitrary at best, as demonstrated by California's Proposition 14 in the 1960's.

Perhaps a nation-wide, mandatory civics class needs to be implimented.
