This is one of the most beautiful essays I've read recently for gay marriage. (http://www.newsweek.com/id/172653) It really turns the Bible on its head in terms of what it says about homosexuality. Also, it has conservative critics reaching for secular arguments against gay marriage. I love this article and I'm disgusted at attempts by adversaries of GLBT causes to use poorly constructed sociological concepts to support their hateful claims. I'm hoping that these academics are punished the way that anti-gay psychologists were when the APA decided being gay was no longer an illness...they were forgotten.;)
Please, read this lovely article. We could all use some lifting of spirits!

Did anyone see Joel Olsteen (and his wife) on Larry King last night? They dismissed gay marriage and said that homosexuality is a choice. While their comments did not suprise me, it saddens me that someone viewed/followed by so many people is stating falsehoods. Ugh!!

Pretty awesome article.
I lump Joel Osteen in with the other pretenders (i.e., Rick Warren). We love everyone until the tough question is asked, and then the true colors show as they don't support equality. Don't have much respect for either one. Mrs. Osteen is quite the charmer though (do some research on her less than niceness to a flight attendant in the not too distant past).

If people are going to tell lies about us, the least they could do is show some creativity and come up with some new ones.
I say that behind that pearly-white smile is yet another hypocrite using Jesus to make a buck, like most other TV preachers.

Thanks for the Turtlebox link. Good commentary. Makes me think that we really are making progress.
Especially like the point that was made about conservative's public vs private face. That is so true. What they discuss and debate amongst themselves is very different than what they want the public to see.

many years ago, I worked for 2 AoG churches as a musician. I know firsthand that what is discussed behind closed doors is not the same as what is said over the pulpit.
