I am starting this thread in hopes we can consolidate the resent onslaught of same sex marriage news that has been hitting since the passage of Prop 8.
Please feel free to post any new or relevant articles concerning our struggle towards equality in the same sex marriage issue. Your articles, videos, links and comments are all welcome. Hopefully, the higher powers here at Soulforce will see fit to pin this thread...:love:
I have one of some interest, at least I think so.
The AP has a story on the recent report from a NJ commission appointed to study civil unions in NJ has been released and its findings are as we have always said...civil unions are not the same as full marriage. The 13 member commission was appointed after the 2006 ruling by the courts to allow the state to define "marriage" as they saw fit, either civil union or full marriage. The opted for civil unions. The commission has concluded...
The report says, "This commission finds that the separate categorization established by the Civil Union Act invites and encourages unequal treatment of same-sex couples and their children." The findings of the commission's 13 members were unanimous.

I mean this is completely a "duh" statement to us, but I guess that they are just coming to the realization that what we have been saying is true. Now maybe we should be spreading this around to anyone and everyone that you can think of. Especially to our reps both in state and federal government. Let them see the facts that civil unions just do not and will not work the same as marriage.
Peace,
Scott
