And of course, the US, along with certain Islamic nations, is refusing to support the UN declaration that would decriminalize being gay.

Like someone has said in another thread, "it looks like we have more in common with our current enemies than our allies."
This is a sad state of affairs that the US is not signing this. Maybe there will be hope when Obama gets into office.
According to some of the declaration's backers, U.S. officials expressed concern in private talks that some parts of the declaration might be problematic in committing the federal government on matters that fall under state jurisdiction. In numerous states, landlords and private employers are allowed to discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation; on the federal level, gays are not allowed to serve openly in the military.
I really like the US "excuses", the legal implications of it being used against DADT and discrimination of LGBT people in the workplace, housing, etc. So what they are saying is that they know there is discrimination but they don't want to do anything to stop it. WOW...sounds like a admittance to guilt to me.
Hopefully, the US will begin to see its hypocisy. The US feels the need to "free other countries from oppression" but when it comes to its own citizens "oh well"!
Peace,
Scott

What really bothers me about this is that Obama continues to claim he is a champion of gay rights, but has failed to comment on this disgusting development. You could say that the Warren thing is just poor judgment. But not making a comment about this is making that unlikely. Wow, didn't think I'd be at odds with Obama this fast.

Gee, we're such an example to the world--a "Christian" nation and a "democracy" says, "By all means, keep on hanging and imprisoning the homosexuals."
