The oppostion is following their beliefs to their ultimate end. I would expect nothing less. After all, their God is a very jealous one. It's not enough that gay people should lose, they must suffer after that loss. The more the better.

I don't recall any discussion about how far 'they' would go. And as such, 'they' will go as far as they can go, that is, until enough resistance is shown.

Another good reason to get out and march.

I remember some in the higher echelons of the Yes on 8 leadership say that they wouldn't challenge the marriages already performed. Deception, however, has been key to their campaign.

Right after the election, the Prop 8 proponents said they were not going to seek action to invalidate the marriages performed. But their entire campaign was based upon lies, so I never once took that statement seriously. This is just another lie building upon all the other lies and deceit used to pass Prop 8.

However, it makes the Court case a little more interesting. I think Starr may have made a premature move with this filing. Although I still believe it's a longshot that we'll see Prop 8 overturned, I think this gives us a little bit better chance of that. If the Court upholds Prop 8 and rules the marriages remain valid, it will take a bit of explaining to justify that decision. The Court has said it is reluctant to invalidate the marriages, so that gives us a little bit more hope.

Don't think for a minute if these people get their way and Prop 8 is upheld and the marriages invalidated, that they will stop at that. They will not. Most would love to strip away all rights we have gained and move us back into the closet, as far as they possibly can anyways.

Although I'm preaching to the choir, I am bemused that this move has occurred, yet the the Yes on 8's official statement speaks of closing the rift and mending bridges...

But my sense is that this is par for the course. A result of 'love the sinner and hate the sin' thinking. Can't have one without the other apparently.

And the opposition would like to think of its actions as being loving. It's for our own good after all, right?

So we should just sit down, shut up, and be good little boys and girls.

Funny.

But I feel a big 'ol screamfest coming on. Legal and otherwise. :D:lol:

True. I just wish they would be honest with their motives. I guess honesty is too much to ask for...

I concur. Let's see what transpires.

But I don't trust those who trying to strip me of my rights to be honest. However, one can be 'honest' to one's belief system and be wrong.

As such, I see this as an extension of 'love the sinner and hate the sin' thinking.

You're right, Daniel. Machiavellian politics ensue with those wanting to undermine all we have strove for and deserve.

Their talk of mending bridges and closing gaps was only in an attempt to quiet us down. They prefer to sneak in behind us and stab us in the back. This is much more comfortable to them than having to confront us and listen to their own lies and BS. I never doubted that the Prop 8'ers would love to strip every right and protection that GLBT have, as well as preventing us from having equal rights someday.

They will eventually lose. But they will never cease trying to demean us and set us back as far as possible. Do not buy into their lies of love, they don't love us. They are afraid of us (and some may even be 'us' as in closeted gays) and must protect their elite status at all costs.

We must never cease our struggle for full equality, even once we achieve just that.
