View Full Version : Why it felt like the best Christmas.

...because I was given the chance to embrace the feeling that family and love ones really are all that matter, especially at Christmas.

I had prepared myself to be disappointed. Our area (WA) and where my brother and his girlfriend were (OR) got more snow this year, since they had since about 1990. Therefore, we are not prepared to deal with it. Only the highways are kept clear, everything else just shuts down.

My grandparents were going to drive up from California, but the Siskews were supposed to be closed and with all the snow and ice everywhere it just didn't seem safe. We thought for sure they would spend Christmas at a hotel, somewhere between our home and theirs.

My brother and his girlfriend were coming by train, but it was canceled... so they were not going to get in until about 1am on the 25th

My grandparents truck was FULL! Long story short, my grandparents (who we have now concluded are crazy for doing it)... got off the highway in OR and got my brother and his girlfriend. They all showed up the night of the 23rd.

I was so excited, that nothing else mattered after that. The chaos of family continues but it feels different. This year, I felt grateful to be surrounded even by the bickering.:love:

I felt blessed to think that one of the last things that will be on my mind in 2008, will be that all that matters in life are those you love and who love you. :dove:

I am sharing this not to get a response, but in hopes that it will help you to get there yourself. Remember what really matters.
