Hello Soulforce community center people. I don’t' ever do blogs or forums but I figured I’d try it for soulforce. I absolutely love this organization. I think that what they are doing is imperative for the stopping of religions discrimination of LGBT people. I strongly support them and hope to meet other people in my area, and maybe in the future starting a Local group here in San Diego... Send me a message anytime!

Great that you are interested in starting a SF group in San Diego.

Welcome to the family, Mike. We have some great people here. I'm sure that you'll like it here. San Diego is a beautiful town. I pray that you do start a Soulforce chapter in SD.

You sing opera Daniel? Wow that's awesome. I sing for the opera here at San Diego State, and will be sending in my audition for SD Opera in a few months. Thanks for the welcome!

Welcome Mike,
I was going to say "Yeah Soulforce is a pretty cool group and I enjoyed the one day I've ever spent in San Diego" and call it quits. But:

Nifty. So now that means there are three of us? Right on.
Are you an opera performance student? What kind of stuff do you do?
Best to you with the SDO audition.

No i'm actually a business real estate major. I was a minoring in classical music but recently droped because it would have delayed my graduation date. I'm pretty new to the opera world. I've been taking private voice lessons for about 3 years now, but really only developed a love and desire for opera about a year and a half ago. Last semester I sang in the chorus for SDSU's produduciton of Die Fledermaus by Strauss. This semester we are doing a opera scenes class. I'm singing a quartet from the thrid act of La Boheme, the sextet from the opening of Manon, Traviatta Chorus, and a Britten piece.
Thanks for the audition wishes. Where do you sing?

I'm gonna guess you're a tenor? And you're singing Rodolfo and Guillot? What Britten are you singing? He wrote some genius stuff!
These days, I'm working on a DMA, so most of the performing I do is centered around school (other than the odd church gig, special event party, etc.)

:D
I could not remember a baritone in the Manon scene -- just Guillot and a bunch of girls and --- a waiter?
Grimes is amazing. Did you happen to catch the MET HD broadcast last spring?
How did I hear of SF? It's been a while, but I think it was around late 2004 or early 2005 when I was searching like mad for an equality organization that was more closely aligned to my personal approach to life and my value system than a lot of the big, sprawling national, or even statewide, organizations. My local lgbt news magazine listed an active chapter of SF as being in the area, despite that it had been defunct for years. I signed up for emails from the Soulforce national website, and got the email announcement the day this forum went public. I signed up for the forum immediately (because there's a side of me that likes to blab online.)

I love Seattle! It would be a pretty harsh change from San Diego though... if you like warm and sunny, Seattle is not your place.

Ah the Berlioz! That was weird, huh?
Could the thing on Weds be a replay of the Lucia from a week or so ago? You'll have to let us know - I missed the Lucia. Tell us how it was. If in fact that's what you see. :p

Yep. Lucia di Lamermoor is what we're seeing. I'm excited about it.
