No one would confuse me with the Terminator. I'm Tammy, an easy-going lesbian who got the nickname from a friend who thought it was funny when I got angry, and the moniker just stuck.

I'm 46 years old going on 30 and happily partnered with a wonderful woman. One of my favorite quotes comes from Lauren Bacall... "It's none of my business what other people think of me." I'm completely out of the closet, as is my partner. I don't announce my orientation. I prefer to just be myself and allow others to see me as a person. But when the subject invariably comes up, I'm not shy about it. Hopefully, by the time they ask they'll already like me and will have to come to grips with the fact that they have a homosexual acquaintance that seems just like a "normal" person!

It wasn't always that way. I was in my mid-30s before I came out of the closet. I tried very hard to fit into the tiny little closet that society wanted to keep me in. It took a major life event which changed me spiritually before I started to claim my own identity. But more on that after I start getting to know some folks on here. Providing any one is interested, that is. :)

I'm an aspiring writer, working on a historical novel. I love everything about nineteenth-century history. I believe in past lives and the souls' journey, karma and all that "new age" thought. I identify with the old west. Even though I don't know the first thing about horses. But I am a fairly good shot with a handgun or rifle. I love model trains, the old steam engine variety, and I miss the one I had as a child. Since I was old enough to pick out my own shoes I've, almost exclusively, worn cowboy boots...even in the summer. No one else in my family wears them. I've lived in the city all my life. So, I have no idea why I would have made western attire such a trademark of mine. Even my accent is a puzzle. I don't sound like I'm from around these parts. ;) And I get questioned about it all the time. No one else in my family sounds like me. So, maybe I'm writing a biography of one of my previous reincarnations. Who knows?

I love music. Just about any kind. I've got a banjo, a guitar, and two harmonicas that I play around with. I enjoy listening to anything from Prince to Big & Rich.

I used to draw quite a bit. Mainly portraits of my favorite celebrities or friends' dogs. But that's kind of taken a backseat to reading and writing. I watch more TV than I'd like. But I can't miss the L Word, Ghost Whisperer, or The Office. :) I'm also a big college basketball fan. I like to watch the guys the best. I won't say who I root for 'cause I don't want to start any rivalries just yet. ;)

We share our house with two terrific dogs and two fantastic cats. My partner and I both have a real soft spot for animals. If we had the space we'd probably have a lot more.

Well, I'd better save something for later! Looking forward to getting to know y'all. :)

"It's none of my business what other people think of me." That's a great quote. I love it! :D

Nice to meet you Tammy. :) It sounds like you live a very interesting and happy life. I'd love to hear more about your novel.

Please join in our conversations and tell us more about yourself and your point of view.

Welcome to the Soulforce Forum.

It sounds like your life is pretty much where you want it to be. You sound a bit like our very own Redneck Dyke, also very much her own person, except that I haven't seen her post lately.

Incidentally, I am a straight member of the gay community; in many ways I identify with women. When I find myself advocating for the gay community, I don't usually so identify, unless asked. People just usually take their own assumptions and go with them.

Hope to see more of you around, Bruce Chris

A great intro, Tammy. A hearty welcome to you. I'm a fan of western movies, cowboy boots and hats. Don't know much about horses either . I have been in Kansas City before while I was in the service.

I pray that you enjoy the site.

Thanks to Rick, Bruce Chris, and Gennee for making me feel welcome. I look forward to getting to know each of you better too!

Right now I'm wasting time by watching American Idol. ;) I try so hard not to get sucked in, but to no avail. I work in Information Technology (yes, a computer geek), so I justify being a couch potato because I'm usually so mentally wiped out by the time I get home. Sometimes I think I'm just using that as an excuse to not write or do any drawing because that way I won't be a failure at either. On the other hand, I'll never succeed either!

So, are all topics okay to talk about here? You know the saying, "Don't talk about religion or politics." But those are two of my favorite topics. Not in an argumentative way. I just enjoy sharing ideas and hearing what other people think and believe.

I'm going to check out some profiles and catch up on who some of the regulars are. Hope to chat with the three of you soon!

Welcome, Tammy! I'm a writer as well--more of a poet than a novelist.

We discuss all sorts of things here, including politics and religion. There are a variety of faiths represented here, as well as those with no faith, but we generally get along fine.

Stick around and get to know us (when you feel like a break from TV :) ).
