Welcome, Michelle. I'm Ben, a gay man married to an FTM transman. I'm retired, too. Glad you have joined us here. There's lots you can do to help, some of it right from the comfort of your own home. Hope you join the conversations here, supporting the people who struggle with how religion has hurt them in the name of God; and maybe find some support yourself. We're family here.

I have dated a couple of trans women in my life. I feel myself fortunate to live in Minneapolis, which is usually a pretty gay and trans accepting place.

It is my impression that most of Texas can often be a fairly macho and uptight place, where women are all too often expected to be unintelligent, but pretty. They say that Houston has a good sized TLGB community.

Come back, tell us more about yourself, meet the folks, and give us your opinions, here and there.

Peace and Love, Bruce Chris

Oh heavens, you need to spend some time in Austin. That's the most progressive city in Texas, and the most likely to be lgbt friendly. Houston had a visible lgbt community, but at that time when I lived there, it was an area of a few blocks of businesses, and not a lot as far as political organizing. That may have changed a bit since, I've been gone for a while.

Welcome to the forum, Michelle. What is life like in Dallas? I only ever spent one day there. Think I flew in from Houston. Didn't get to tour the city.

I am a pastor now and was wondering how the transition went from male to female in the church and also if that is what made you retire or did you retire and then trans and come out? How did you come out as a pastor? Turquoise.
