I love Easter. Always have.

But, if you think about it, Easter is a little weird. If aliens ever visited earth at Easter time, how would they report the event back to home base?

"During the 24 hour period the earthlings refer to as Sunday immediately following the first full moon after the planet's vernal equinox, the earthlings submerge the embryos of domesticated birds into a liquid substance. The substance's color permanently adheres to the embryo's protective outer shell. Then the adult earthlings conceal the embryos from their offspring and challenge their offspring to locate the embryos while the adult earthlings take photographic images of the offspring's task."

"When the planet has turned in the opposite direction of the sun during the 24 hour period earthlings refer to as Sunday immediately following the first full moon after the planet's vernal equinox, a large rodent the size of an adult human invades human dwellings and deposits various hard sugar substances in the form of domesticated bird embryos into a lightweight container of shredded green plastic. The human family remains in a dream state during the entire invasion by the large animal and do not become aware of the animal's invasion until their side of the earth turns back towards the sun."

Rabbits are NOT rodents.

That seems to be a very common misconception.

They are Lagomorpha. (That clears EVERYTHING up):)

Yep, bunnies are lagomorphs. The difference, I believe, is in the growth of the teeth (if I recall correctly.)

Now, some corrections regarding the Easter Bunny in particular. He is NOT the size of an adult human. You are confusing him with Harvey (who is, in fact, a bit taller than an adult human being.)

The Easter Bunny is 12 inches tall. He is a white mixed breed lop with pink eyes. His favorite color is pink and his favorite food is raw carrot with fresh parsley garnish. His favorite composer is Mozart, and he is a charismatic conductor with the musicality of Fürtwängler. He is also the only conductor ever seen to keep the beat with his ears.

And his Easter presents are not limited to eggs and jelly beans. Recall: he also dispenses chocolate of varying qualities and flavors, some of the chocolate sculpted in honor of the Order Lagomorpha. He also gives gifts of plush animal friends, marshmallows, and occasionally other toys. He does this all by himself, astral-traveling all around the world in one night to dispense gifts and spread happiness to girls and boys everywhere in a mere 12 hours.

Then he sleeps for the next three weeks.

That's nuts! How can a 12 inch bunny carry all those candy eggs?

The Easter Bunny is 6 feet tall, weighs 250 pounds, and wears a pink bow-tie. His name is peter Cottontail and he lives at the East Pole.

Rick

Nope.

He is 12 inches tall, weighs about an ounce or two, and while you're correct about the pink bow, he wears it on his head between his ears.

All the toys and candies are magically generated by the magic pink purse he carries. All he does is lift them out one at a time, and then the next piece appears.

In the form of eggs, of course.
