A one, Mike Duke of 16 Pinnacle Drive, Rogers, Arkansas with the birthdate of 12/07/49 appears on a petition sheet for the Anti-Gay Arkansas Adoption and Foster Ban or Act 1.





There are plenty of reasons to avoid WalMart, and I admit that I still find myself shopping there occasionally, but this is one more thing for me to think about the next time I need to pick up something at the store.

Guess I can be grateful that there isn't a Wallmart in Manhattan- or if there is- I don't know about it. Not many big box stores here, though we are getting a Trader Joe's on 72nd Street.

Looks like Wallmart is cheap, but for a whole other reason. ;)

I love Trader Joe's!

I prefer Target to WalMart. Can't really define it, just never really like to shop in a WalMart store.

What if we had people start taking action with their local level stores? Asking for dialogue... the whole non-violence process in action on a local level...

While it's a good idea in theory, it would be really hard to do that successfully. Before the Walmart opened here, most of the community was protesting it, everyone swore they wouldn't shop there. Within a week of opening, they were mobbed. It would take a LOT to hurt walmart and too many people wouldn't be willing to support our cause.

Someone did actually try to burn it down... caused them over a million $$ in damage, but they were up and running again about a week later.

I guess I don't have a lot of faith in the idea. Personally, I wouldn't more than a few people locally who would be willing to participate. :(

well i am not shopping htere, but it's easy for me to say, I still have a job. So many have turned to retail outlets for clothes and food because they are so cheap. It's the only way that they can make ends meet. I think we would have a better chance if we were in better economic times. Maybe we could start an email/letter writting stint.
