this is my first post. to be honest i struggled for too long to be able to accept myself. i am proud to say gay and christian is possible. i went to a christian university. i felt silenced in a way. few knew me for who i really was. towards the end of my time there i started speaking to a social work class about being a gay christian. that gave me a taste of activism, and bridging the gap to let people know what it's like to be a part of both worlds. i desire to hit the ground running. i want to start advocating for the rights of glbt people everywhere. so if anyone has any suggestions let me know. i'm interested in finding out what all this means and what i can do to help as far as support, protesting, and anything else. i know it's up to us to begin to help change the world. so i'm looking forward to it. :)

Malory welcome...I wish you the best of luck

I am not used to being the welcome wagon since I just got here myself!

Have a great day!

Hi Malory and welcome to the site. I graduated from a Christian university and am involved with a couple of groups. I applaud :applause: your desire to be active. I am transgender and a Christian. You're absolutely right that a person can be gay and Christian.

A lot of the activist-side of things is fairly local. Google your local area? That said, there are definitely opportunities to get involved at the local level with national orgs (I know Zerbie has coordinated events for Soulforce for I think two years). In any event, welcome! Have a look around, jump into discussion.

Welcome Malory

I don't know a lot about activism, this group is the only one I'm really a part of. You can join HRC, which is something. Perhaps you have a local PFLAG group? I second what Alecto said, google your area, see what kind of groups you have. :)

Welcome!
I'm also gay and a Christian and I go to a Christian college. I actually think that coming out has made me a more "real" Christian. I can finally start to love and accept myself for who I am and start to really accept the love and grace that Jesus offers. Pretty flippin' amazing.
I'm glad you found Soulforce!:)
