Hey all,
I was just curious.. what do you all do when you feel just plain lonely and bored? Resort to a favorite hobby? A favorite snack food? With the 6 hours' time difference with all my friends and family, and the 9 hours' difference with my wife, I get bored a lot. I get bored, and feel absolutely alone when I can't be with them, but not really motivated to do much other than random, pointless things. So what do you find yourself doing when that happens to you? And yes, I am that bored to ask

I have plenty to keep me busy. I write, read, volunteer, cook, go out, and basically enjoy life.

I work in my yard, surf on the internet, watch TV, rent movies, write, read, rock on my porch, play with my cats, take walks, chat with friends, and eat.

Meditate. Really. I do. I meditate to deal with that Monkey Mind that takes over when I am bored out my mind. Oh....sometimes I don't remember to do it, but when I do, I then ask myself: "Why don't you do this more often?"
Makes a great deal of difference in my internal world. Thinks that were bugging me before aren't pulling my chain in quite the same way afterwards. But that's me. Meditation isn't all fun and games. Sometimes it feels like hacking away through a brick wall.
Not perfect at by any means. But after enough suffering (I am really serious here), one wants to find some way to deal with it, relieve it. Meditation does that for me. I can only take so much of my crazy thoughts and feelings.
Make any sense?
Gotta go within an find some peace!

It can be anything or nothing. We're never alone.

Oh I know what you mean, Daniel. I am trying to learn some of the inner Chinese martial arts, which are strongly rooted in meditation, though my progress is nonexistent because I'm lazy. But I often find myself saying, "I should do this more often, I really like it!" It really is soothing ^_^

I read or watch movies. I love Netflix! I also like puzzle books.

Mercedes Lackey. If you've never read her, you're in for a treat.

I'm rarely bored. Way too busy. But if I ever am, I'll usually spend time on the computer. WWW or writing or playing Bejeweled.
I suggest birding. All you need is a decent binocular and a field guide. If you get bored and can't figure out what to do, take a walk with your binoc and see what birds are out there. Always interesting and worth the time!

Working 12 hrs a day 7 days a week over here. Rarely get bored.
Back home I would go for a drive, read, go shopping but don't buy anything.
My partner would work Saturdays. So I would go hang out at a friend's shop and sit around and talk. If my partner had to work Saturday and Sunday, I'd start to really miss him.
It was hard over here, being separated at 1st. We both cried when I left then cried when we were alone from each other. We talk to each other on the phone but it's not the same.
