Hello all, my name is Lisa. I'm a 28 yr old surg. tech. I recently moved here from Baltimore. Prior to that I spent six years in the military... where I was as out as I could be. Some of my command knew but didnt care, because I was a good soldier. I'm starting school soon to pursue my goals in the medical field. As I am getting older I have this increasing desire to not just be "out". I want to make a difference somehow. I'm still trying to figure out how I can best contribute as I am not overly "political". I do want to support in our civil rights movement however I can. Most importantly to me, I want to reach out to youth who may not have enough leasbian role models. And I want to help in building a stronger sense of community outside of the nightclub scene. I want to do my part!

Welcome, Lisa. :flower:
I think a lot of people feel the frustration of feeling that they’re not doing enough, or that they can’t do enough. I know I do.
Don’t worry about being “overtly political,” at least not yet. The more you find out the truth about “political” things, the more confidence you’ll have to lead you to where you need to be.
And don’t underestimate your online activity, more people read than respond, and the more stories “outside of the nightclub scene” the better, just keep telling them. :rainbow:

Welcome to the group, Lisa. Contributions can come in so many ways. A word of encouragement, a kind word, supporting someone who is struggling. I admire you for your desire to contribute. I'm the same way, too.
