Was just e-mailed this link: http://www.hrcactioncenter.org/campaign/fma_postcards.
for the Human Rights center petition...I had not seen it before (but I'm less vigilent than many of you) Know any background, history or reason for hesitation?... Maybe time to put my Name and address and reputation where my big Mouth is.

Hey Awediot, go ahead and do it. :D Step up to the plate, man!
But if ya wanna go one better than this, write the letter yourself and send it to your senators, tailored specifically to them. I would sign this webform, but it's kind of nonsensical considering who my senators are.
One is Jon Kyl who is a CO-SPONSOR of the amendment. He's a lost cause, and yes I've already contacted him about this issue and got a reply saying how proud he is to co-sponsor the thing, and yes I probably *am* going to waste time sending him another communication just expressing my dissent (again.) The other senator is John McCain who voted AGAINST this kind of amendment last year, but is now actively supporting a STATE constitutional amendment in Arizona. Supposedly, he is still against the federal one, but I know our local opponents are pressuring him to vote yes on it, so I s'pose yet a THIRD letter to McCain is in order.
Anyhoo - y'all go ahead now and fill out that webform! Then HRC will forward it to your US Senators. But if ya wanna go one better, personalize the letter yourself. Or make a phone call! I'm gonna be making a phone call to McCain the week before this vote comes up. ;)
