I've done several google searches over the last while trying to find a list of celebrities (actors, singers, writers, politicians, radio personalities, whatever) who have been or are openly homophobic. I'd like to know so I can be informed when buying a DVD, a book, or supporting an artist in any way. There was a fairly definitive list in a book I owned years ago (which included Ernest Hemingway and Elvis), but find it strange that there's not one online. Some of them are obvious, like James Dobson, Sally Kerns, etc. Anyhow, feel free to contribute!

Orson Scott Card -- Sci fi and fantasy author. I used to really like his books but he is a Mormon and a homophobe so... I no longer read him. He wrote "Enders Game" and the Alvin Maker series.

I would imagine that (but I don't know for sure) some country singers are homophobic and maybe actor/director Mel Gibson. But I could just be making assumptions - which I should not do.

I am sure there are a lot, on both sides of the fence, but probably do not wish to make their opinion very open about it. Some people like the negative publicity, while others enjoy to be able to keep their views to themselves, allowing for a wider audience base. I know if I were in their position, I wouldn't really spout off in one direction or the other... Sometimes it's best to leave personal opinions out of things where they don't belong. And if they are to be made known, to at least do so with some taste and a little tact.
But good luck with that list. The flack that seems to go around these days might make it hard to find anything that long or substantial, but who knows. :)

From the 80's show "Growing Pains." He has a new movie out called Fireproof (in video stores), and is in the movie "Left Behind" (2000). Those movies don't deal with homosexuality, but there is a YouTube video of him on Bill O'reily if you want to see his demeanor on the subject.
(FYI, anti-gay "researcher" Paul Cameron has a son with the same name and spelling)
