This year at the annual shareholders meeting they voted down a proposal to remove sexual orientation from their employee non-discrimination policy by a whopping 95%! Ex-gay watch has the scoop. (http://www.exgaywatch.com/blog/archives/2006/05/ford_shareholde.html)
I’ve been receiving email action alerts for the past several months about how “anti-family” Ford is for advertising in gay publications and for having a non-discrimination policy that includes sexual orientation, so now our beloved “pro-family” groups are all up in arms about the vote.
The AFA even started up www.boycottford.com (http://www.boycottford.com). It’s one of those things you’d think would make your blood boil, but for the gay and gay friendly alike it reads like a giant promotion. Among the litany of 'charges they allege' is:
“Ford was given a 100% score on last year's Human Rights Campaign's Corporate Equality Index. Ford was the only automaker and the largest corporation to get this score.”
...Come to think of it I haven’t driven a Ford lately.
