I got the phone call from the ex! she was angry, as I expected. I took that breath that so many of you advised. Then I broke into the mantra that I've been rehearsing all day. It worked! I was calm, that calmed her.
My mantra:
I told you that I had no intentions of giving up time with my son. I cooperated with you by going to your therapist to discuss co-parenting skills , when in reality, you just wanted to beat me up in front of the therapist. The solution we came up with was that I would have my son for overnight visits every other saturday. You didn't like it, told the therapist you would try, then 3 days later called to say that it would not be happening on a regular basis. I have no intention of giving up time with my son. I cooperated with you....

So I made it through. I'm still nervous and upset, but I handled the phone call well. the ex does not want to go to court, so she's anxious to settle this soon. Might even save me some money, no?

Congrats on keeping the breathing going. That's mighty hard sometimes. Sorry you're having to go through this, she sounds like a champ of a person. Of course, many people show their rears when faced with losing control. I wish her peace eventually, and you peace much sooner. :)

Good for you Keltic. Calm, little steps at a time. Nice to have the ball back in your court in some ways.

I bet Joe will confirm that this may be one of the keys to non-violence.

Way to go!

Glad to hear you kept calm and cool! That is SO hard to do when your stomach is doing acrobatics!

Proud of you Keltic, for standing up for yourself and your relationship with your son.
