I got the phone call from the ex! she was angry, as I expected. I took that breath that so many of you advised. Then I broke into the mantra that I've been rehearsing all day. It worked! I was calm, that calmed her.
My mantra:
I told you that I had no intentions of giving up time with my son. I cooperated with you by going to your therapist to discuss co-parenting skills , when in reality, you just wanted to beat me up in front of the therapist. The solution we came up with was that I would have my son for overnight visits every other saturday. You didn't like it, told the therapist you would try, then 3 days later called to say that it would not be happening on a regular basis. I have no intention of giving up time with my son. I cooperated with you....
So I made it through. I'm still nervous and upset, but I handled the phone call well. the ex does not want to go to court, so she's anxious to settle this soon. Might even save me some money, no?
