To those of you who pray: please keep the Equality Riders who got arrested at West Point in your prayers.

None of the other arrests Soulforce has dealt with required us to show up for a court date. Apparantly the Lawyers working on the West Point federal arrests haven't gotten the court to let us do that. I checked my email tonight, and said "oh boy..."

I believe the following Soulforce people were arrested there:
Myself, Nate, Angel, Pam, Chad, Haven, Katie, Jarrett, Kevin, Rachel, Jake, Kate, Meg, Rebecca, Jamie, and (I believe) Randi and Phil Reitan . . . (I hope this is right.)

So, hopefully we'll be granted a postponement, because this would be a logistical nightmare (and expensive) for Soulforce if not.

David,

From what you indicate, these arrests are on a higher level than the others. I pray that everyone is spared the nightmare of having to wade through months of court dates, fees and yes, even serving time for civil disobedience. Whatever happens, your courage in facing arrest at West Point gave voice to all who cannot speak for themselves. That voice is heard still and will not be silenced.

This just in-

We got an adjournment untl June 28th. BUT, it looks like we're all going to New York. Hellooo West Point, again. They sure want to see us!

Thank you all for your prayers. :)

And yes, Daniel... The attorney said it could be "multiple" court dates with a maximum sentence of six months + a $500 fine. I really doubt that our actions warrant any sentence at all, but at least now they have time to create a proper defense.

What bothers me is that the only person I know that got arrested on federal property for a political action was Donte who had to leave the Equality Ride early. He had been sentenced to three months in a federal prison for doing a sit-in at the evil School of Americas, and left to get his life in order before serving his time.

-David, who hopes the Air Force academy arrest doesn't end up the same as West Point . . . If so, so much for a job this summer.
