Another anti-gay closet case busted.
From the Advocate News May 4, 2010:
George Alan Rekers, who founded the antigay Family Research Council with James Dobson and Amandi Nicholi Jr., was caught returning from a vacation to Europe in April with a young man he’d hired on a popular escorting site, the Miami New Times reports.

I saw that and wondered why he couldn't find a strapping lad at NARTH to help him lift things. Or maybe hire a porter on location. It's possible that escorts are just escorts but that would spoil the fun.

What a sad bit of business, the more so because of the lies and distortions from Rekers' own mouth: he tried to pass off the situation as one of helping his trick give up being gay. This would be funny if Rekers hadn't been testifying in Florida to keep gay people from adopting. He's done a lot of damage.

I'm sure I'm not the only one laughing, right? Another one busted... *rolls eyes*
And honestly, his excuse? Excuse me while I begin laughing... Lies and fallacies.
When are they going to learn... doing what you're fighting against will only diminish your credibility? As if they had much to start with. Most reasonable people, including those at APA don't see these loons as having any credibility, thankfully. Hopefully, there will come a day when the harm that these people cause will end. It'll be a better day for us all, even us straights.

Of course, he has a way of making any situation funny.

woof!
Seems his testimony in Florida is all doogy-do. And you know what? This will only help change things in that state.

The Rentboy home page was on one of our new 103" monitors in Studio 7 yesterday when Rekers made 'the list you don't want to be on". I wonder if their web traffic went up?

The attorney general of Florida paid Mr. Rekers 87K to testify against gay adoption.

And this statement is worth thinking about.

If the glaringly obvious conclusion is true, that Rekers is, in fact, a frustrated homosexual who won’t allow himself to actually have sex with another man, then he has created for himself, exactly the hell he and his colleagues believe homosexuals are headed for or deserve. I can’t imagine what it must be like to share a room – naked – with an attractive young man I’ve paid a lot of money to, and not have sex with him. Whether that’s hell or not, it’s certainly got all the earmarks of earthly torture.
And that’s really the point. This is the torture closeted lesbians and gay men were forced to negotiate in the days when any disclosure of their sexual orientation could land them in jail, or worse. Even the most private moments could result in exposure, prosecution or blackmail, and the fear of going too far distorted the most intimate relationships. That was daily life for a person of homosexual orientation.
And this is the way the anti-gay side continues to believe the world ought to be. Rekers is, in fact, living in that world, the one so many of the rest of us have left behind as we’ve claimed our self-respect. His world – his hell – is now inhabited only by those who want it, or believe it is their fate.

Another Ted Haggard. Both he and Rekers have found out what a b*tch karma can be. Surely his evangelical buddies will drop him like a dirty sock. Unless he "changes his sinful ways," of course. :/

I caught a brief glimpse of Randi Kaye (who is normally an investigative journalist) interviewing Jo-vanni Roman in Miami. She is usually very thorough in her work. I'll be keeping an eye out to see what comes of this. (This is main stream media.)

Joe Jarvis, of Joe.My.God. interviewed him last night, apparently, and it looks like he'll also be on CNN with Anderson Cooper.

And I'm not talking about Rentboys.
Rekers testified in a the Florida adoption case. Here is some information on the family he and the state of Florida tried to break up.

Is this the same family that was at the White House the Monday after Easter?

Since the blogger didn't mention any names I can't be sure but I think it might be. I'm also not sure being invited to the "Egg Roll" means you get to mention your troubles to the POTUS & FLOTUS. The only thing I remember was that it seemed to be gay day at the White House. I did find several archived articles about it from about a month ago. FWIW I also saw it referred to as pandering. The same bunch will probably be jumping on the POTUS for including this in his Mother's Day Proclamation:
"Nurturing families come in many forms, and children may be raised by two parents, a single mother, two mothers, a step-mom, a grandmother, or a guardian."

I am part giggling like a school girl, because so often hardcore conservatives turn out to be gay. However, I am saddened because he felt his need to suppress who God made him to be so strongly, that he believed the lies of the anti-gays.
