I am shaking my head over this article (http://www.nytimes.com/2010/06/05/us/05beliefs.html) in the NYTimes today.

It seems like quite an egocentric notion to assert that all gay people should not marry and be celibate. As such, it reeks of 'love the sinner and hate the sin' crap. This particular belief distorts, warps and deforms all those who expound it and impose it on others.

I don't think the writer of the article hates herself. In fact, I get the sense that she thinks herself quite special. And that's the problem. She gets to be saved from being gay and gets rewarded for it too. Now isn't that a trip?

My belief? Real Love - divine or in the arms of our beloved- doesn't make us special with a capital S. It makes us human. A very different thing.

There are Catholic women with a different opinion:

They may not be gay but then again I don't separate humans by sexual orientation.

it seems there is some connection to Maggie Gallagher and NOM.

and how about all that sublimation? she's really good at it! (or is that "repression" it's soooo easy to get those 2 confused)

That's an interesting 'connection'.

Sublimation vs repression. The first may create great art while the latter is just plan destructive.

Ok. So where is the great art here?
