I remember this kind of thing happening when I was in the AOG. Not a pretty memory, I can tell you that. It's just so sad that this kind of thing is going on. It's abuse. That's all it is. Child abuse.

This is one of the major reasons I became catholic. Exorcisms are much less prevalent in the catholic church. They don't see a demon behind every rock and leaf like in the AoG. I was a teen in the AOG, Daniel. That's a major reason why it took me so long to accept my same sex attractions.

The whole thing sounds so cultic. Jesus Camp revisited. How tragic for all the children involved. What kind of parents would put their child through such torture? I'm proud of Kevin for standing his ground!

Extreme religious beliefs like this can cause the brain to be delusional and even become dangerous.

Here's another example ---> http://www.cnn.com/2010/CRIME/06/06/new.york.terror.arrests/index.html?hpt=T1

Brian- I was in the AoG as a teenager, went to Evangel College (now University) which is an AoG school, and came out when I was 28. Yeah. It took me a long time to deal with things- or one could say start dealing with things.

Antiochian- what concerns me is the post traumatic stress syndrome that can that be set up by repeated exorcisms. Anyone who has been present at an electrifying 'camp meeting' has only glimpsed the kind of thing that goes on in exorcisms.

I think the whole business is torture. And what is so horrible is that a gay person is often convinced that these measures are necessary. What kind of model is that for a healthy relationship with an other person? It teaches one that it is Ok to be brutal with another person for their own 'good'. Sick!

Yep- this is all over the news here in NYC.
