Wow! what a great day!
The true forgiveness demonstrated and the healing of division cause by ignorance. What a great day!

Wow that's a great article! I marched in the NYCPride parade this past Sunday. I came away with the belief that many people 'get it'. By their cheering and support, I felt proud to have been a part of it. Thank you for the site, Daniel.

While this doesn't speak to the sincerity or lack thereof of the individual participants, the founder of the organization seems less than up-front about motives: http://www.thestranger.com/seattle/Comments?oid=4369692

Thanks Alecto. I wasn't aware of the man's history. Most interesting.
Here is a more direct link on the matter.

I'd be curious to find out more about the guy. That said, even if his motives are less that stellar, I applaud the effort.

Also, to clarify, I don't think the guy who wrote the blog is the same guy who started the organization. They may have entirely different worldviews and paradigms and beliefs and motivations.
Call me bitter, but I can't bring myself to applaud the effort anymore; I get really easily sick of people trying but failing (usually HARD).

Notice, I did NOT call you a BITTER OLD QUEEN. Just bitter. (Where the heck is that 'wink' smiley when you need it?)
I understand 'bitter'. I live in NYC after all. And we're all supposed to be 'bitter' and 'jaded', another good word for that 'reading-between-the-lines' and 'not-quite-sure-things-are-up-to-snuff' look we- again- supposedly have.
It's hard to keep the heart open, that's what I hear you saying. And I could not agree more. One doesn't want to be burned twice after all.
There is the thought, however, that love isn't lost. It merely goes where it needs to go. Perhaps that is fanciful or even magical thinking. But perhaps our tribe, which understands 'magic' more than most, can conjure some for even the least of those.
To give is to have, no?

I sort of agree with Daniel on here. I tend to applaud the effort, even if the motives aren't great. He's at least trying to reconsile with the LGBTQ community.
I can also see where Alecto's coming from. It's hard to forgive when one has been hurt over and over by the Church. It's easy to be cynical. Geeze, I'm very cynical at times!
However, as somebody who's not LGBTQ (merely a proud straight, cis-gendered ally), I can't really speak from experience. So, I speak as an outsider. Hope my measly two-cents is at lesat worth that. =)

The real deal on Marin.

What do I think? Merely being 'nice' doesn't cut it.
The author of the article in the link (great article btw) is right: "....before anyone starts “elevating the conversation” with him, he needs to explicitly, and unequivocally confirm that LGBT individuals – and their relationships – have a place in his church and deserve equal protection under the law. Because you can’t really ignore the “tough questions” he wishes to avoid when they call your basic humanity into question."
That's what it's all about.

Really. I simply don't know what to make of all of this! I guess we shall see what is what when the dust settles.
