in my own state, we elected a man who is against the Matthew Shepard (Pat Toomey) as well as a Republican Governor, Tom Corbett, who declared that his first goal is to begin raping the land, errrr, ummmm, more like drill, baby drill.

with the right wing gains in the national as well as state levels, lgbt equality just became a more distant dream.

I don't see what is wrong with working-class people that they vote for people who will just work them over. They don't see that the whole tea party thing is just corporate fatcats leading them around like a bull with a ring in his nose.

And the military appropriations bill arn't going to go anywhere soon, and still need to be passed. I've heard that Obama's plan was to get that passed during the lame duck session, between now and the next congress, and the military brass have conveniently scheduled the release of their "survey" for early December.

So call your senators, and remind them.

(And is it really true, that ignorance is an Article of Faith with the tea baggers?)

Here in GA the 4th and 5th districts stayed blue. The state's still red. Situation normal.

Keeping an open mind. I have heard second-hand but like the communist manifesto most people I have talked to have not participated in the Tea Party.

What was interesting was that in the terms is a requirement not to make discriminatory comments regarding sexual orientation.

Did not see that one coming!

Now i have had waaay too much crap done to me to be capable of a PollyAnna point of view!

So I will see for myself what this Tea Party is about first hand!

Actually, the glass is still half full. The Republican gains were inevitable. Congress changes back and forth constantly and it will swing back again.

Plus, California made significant gains in the election of people who are LGBT friendly. Also, an openly gay man was elected as Mayor of Lexington, Kentucky. And, record gains were made in the elections of open gays and lesbians nationwide. And lastly, the Senate is still controlled by the Democrats.

So it's not really so bad.

New York for the most part stayed the same. Republicans gained a few seats in the city council here. Main thing is to stay the course because it's going to get even tougher with the national elections in a couple of years.

Most people are very concerned with the economy hence the shift to republicans. problem is that they created the mess in the first place.

Sadly, this is the case with many Americans. Can anyone remember Republicans doing things for middle class folks?

Recount pending, Minnesota will have a governor who supports LGBT equality (Dem. Mark Dayton). It was sooo close, and Emmer's people aren't giving up without a fight. I just hope it doesn't take months to sort this out.

What saddened me most this election season was the fate of the 3 Iowan Supreme Court judges who declared same sex marriage unconstitutional. The bigots of Iowa sent a loud, clear message: "We won't tolerate anyone who refuses to tolerate our refusal to tolerate." :/
