Does any one else have complete doubts?

On my religious/spiritual journey along with the unfolding of my life -- I just can't believe in God or Jesus (or Mohammad or Buddha). I wish I could but I can't.

I would give any thing to believe that Jesus exists and cares for humankind but my rational mind says, no. I wish there was something beside emotionality and hysteria that resolved in my heart that there was a caring Jesus. But currently, no.

Is it because I'm gay?

In the school of thought or faith of which I am part we call doubt spiritual or divine discontent. Or perhaps an itch. We'd say that what you're looking for, you're looking with, and looking at. Spiritual teachers are great or not if what they say doesn't resonate with you. We look too far away for Reality. Our ignorance of our divine nature is explained in that we have looked right past it, perhaps too obvious and familiar to be dependably divine. Nothing can be done to you or for you that isn't done through you and as you. Caring is a conscious decision.

Sexual orientation has nothing to do with it.

The problem is reconciling ancient thinking with modern thinking. I agree that the Abrahamic faiths (Judaism, Christianity, Islam) don;t jive with modern thinking.

Buddhism, however is merely a science of the mind. There is no diety or after-life or spirit. It is just the mind and how to imrpove your mental and emotional state with focus of intellect.

Buddha was a man. a prince from 2,500 years ago who through trial and error developed meditation technique and a code of behavior that optimizes release of suffering.
