After decades of debate, the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) on Tuesday struck down a barrier to ordaining gays, ratifying a proposal that removes the celibacy requirement for unmarried clergy..

Well, good to see this! It's about time. Glad to see them adjusting to reality. GLBT clergy have a lot to give to any church or faith. I am happy to see the the GLBT clergy of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) are finally getting their chance.

First of all I'm so glad to see upon revisiting Soulforce that the forums have been kept!
Secondly, kudos to the PCUSA for taking this big, brave step.
Unfortunately, the result will probably be bickering and splintering. The homophobic bigots will likely join more strict Presbyterian bodies, or form new ones, as former ELCA bigots formed the North American Lutheran Church, and Episcopal parishes broke away to join other Anglican groups. That's ok, though. Let them go. This news gives me hope that much of Christianity can one day become a safe haven for LGBT persons... :pray:

The same thing happened when African-Americans were accepted by some churches years ago. There will be a weeding out of those who may disagree. The way I see it if it is of God, then maybe those folks should wonder if they are fighting against the one they proclaim to serve and worship.
