How important is the physical aspect?

I don't know how you feel about it, but I do care about my appearance. That doesn't mean that I'm a Barbie, but I like makeup and I love buying stuff in beauty online shops (http://www.schrammek.com/). But nevertheless, I don't like people who reduce everybody to their physical aspect.
What do you think: How important is the physical aspect in our society? And: how long do friendships or relationships last that are based on physical attraction? Is it easier to get a job if you're pretty? Or can it be even harder?

Physical appearance is important and a part of our lives. It's great if we want to lose weight, or improve our attire, or learn to put on makeup. While physical appearance is important, it's not the only aspect of our lives. Common goals, attraction, understanding each other at the emotional level, spiritual compatibility are also important.

My wife and I have been married for over 31 years. The best advice I ever received was never go to sleep mad at each other. If we don't agreee on smething, then let it go. Another factor is that we have respect for one another abilities, desires, and gifts.
