I leave for Alaska tomorrow. My mom, dad, brother, sister-in-law, boyfriend, and I are going. Chris and I have never been on a cruise before, so this should be an exciting vacation!
Schoolboi is the forum's second moderator (as we grow, I'll be recruiting others) so he will be watching over the site while I am away. I'll be back on June 12th.

Jamie,
Man, you're so lucky to be going to Alaska on a cruise. You're gonna have a ball. Have fun but be careful. Don't pet any grizzly bears.

My father went a couple years ago and brought back some incredible pics...
Tried to find an Innuit translation for "Have wonderful time, God keep you Safe."... but apparently its not quite as popular as Spanish... so-

Hi everyone, I'm back from Alaska! Here are some pictures I'd like to share. The portrait is of me, Chris (my boyfriend), my parents, and my brother and sister-in-law. The photos of the whales were taken by me in the open ocean (on a tour boat, not the cruise ship). And in a gift shop, I found my new visual for "word combinations with the intent to fool." :disagree:
I enjoyed the trip very much, especially because we got to go as a family. I came out to my parents in 2001 immediately after my first Soulforce action. We grew up Southern Baptist and their coming to terms with my being gay was about as rocky as my own coming to terms with it prior to living openly. My parents, brother, and sister-in-law really liked spending time with Chris on this cruise to Alaska, so I was delighted.
Anchorage is the largest city by far -- half the state lives there. We only got to spend half a day there, but it also seemed to have a large GLBT presence. My gaydar is not the most accurate, but we seemed to be everywhere. :rainbow:

Before I realized the staircase was there, that guy on the left looked REALLY tall... actually I thought the rest of you were just REALLY short. :)
PS: Glad you're back! Looks like you had a great time!

A rocky road, huh? (Isn't that a Ben and Jerry's flavor?) If a picture is a thousand words, you and your family have come very far down that road. You Dad expecially, looks kinda....well....quietly proud of ya all.
The haircut is cute too!
Welcome back. Missed you.

:D Schoolboi has been an absolute bear: “You missed a period here." "You forgot to capitalize Soulforce." "You split an infinitive." "I'm not goint to tell you to change that font again."
-Ugh, I can’t even recognize my own sarcasm anymore! :D

I’m kidding of course, welcome back. All went well, well except for.. (:aparty:) ..I mean never mind.
Neat pics, that’s a really nice photo of your family. Glad you enjoyed it and that you're back safe and sound.

Hey!!!!! Welcome home!!
I'm glad Nathan said that about the staircase. I thought you were really really short and your bf was really really tall. :D
Those are some GORGEOUS pictures! Omigod, wow! Now I REALLY wanna see Alaska.
What beautiful whales! And those snowy peaks, green grasses and rocky shores. . .hmmm, I think we need some photos of Alaska on our living room wall to make us feel a bit cooler over here. :p
Glad you're back.

welcome back anyway. (I'm new here)
I just wanted to say that those pics of the ice cliffs were particularly beautiful. I do want to visit such a cold climate sometime (with my sexy thermals on, of course)

Thanks for the nice comments, everyone! And I recall that I commented on Nathan and Schoolboi's height (http://www.soulforce.org/forums/showthread.php?p=3766#post3766), so turnaround is fair play.
Actually, all this time I thought I was 5' 11'' like my driver's license states. I just had Chris measure and, in reality, I'm a hair under 5' 9".
Isn't it odd the things we believe about ourselves that aren't quite accurate.

it's good to be on the shorter side.... people seem to expect a little less from you... so when you do something, for some reason they seem surprised.... I don't really understand, but it usually works out pretty well.:)
