Today, Monday the 12th of June, 2006 begins the 75th General Assembly of the Episcopal Church in Columbus, Ohio. General Convention is, as The Reverend Dr. Gregory S. Straub put it, a "combination of legislative assembly, bazaar of goods and services and family reunion. It is one of the most exciting and, truth be told, one of the most awe-inspiring gatherings in the world."
The Episcopal Church, my home denomination, is continuing to debate the topic of human sexuality, particularly as it relates to members of the GLBT community, and the subject is expected to come up again before the close of the convention on June 21st.
