Speaking for myself and our son, I bless the day that +LC found Soulforce. For hours, and more than I have ever seen him engage in a listserve or blog, he replayed the online videos - especially Dr. White and Executive Director Jeff Lutes.

Our personal finances have been strained with two separate life threatening illnesses in the span of several years, but I know that he prays earnestly for the success of Soulforce and for each and every one of you by name.

I can assure you that his life speaks to profiles in courage. His principaled stand reminds me of Thomas More and the Robert Bolt play, A MAN FOR ALL SEASONS. In the seventies, our lives could be lived in " selective openness".
At the time, as a priest, he supported an orthodox catholicism that nevertheless invited special ministries among groups previously isolated or given only pastoral care on an individual only basis.

Thomas More was more than a friend of Henry VIII and Lord Chancellor of England. More was a lawyer who hung on every word for the "wiggle room" that would allow him to remain loyal to a man and simultaneously to his conscience. Alas, and in the end, his enemies removed all ambiguous language, and in a simple declarative sentence, he freed his soul and conscience and they freed his body from mortal life.

There came a time and a synod when he spoke the truth to men who relied upon his perpetual "discretionary silence." The essential honesty of our truth, and especially that basic lesson we needed to teach our son, required that leap of faith and courage.

There are many ways to accomplish the same ends, while still allowing the person to physically live. They can strain an individual so as to cause a myocardial infarction and six bypass grafts to his weakened heart. They can remove resources and health benefits. There are legitimate reasons for his anonymity today. When he is restored to health, as we pray it is God's will, he may again lend his considerable knowledge and passion to the cause that is universal - but alas, dealt with provincially as opposed to our globally organised foes.

I prayed again for Crozier today. Was at a service this afternoon when he came into my thoughts very strongly.

I too am very happy to have him posting here. And you too, Mr. Spouse. :D Stay as anonymous as you wish. Though I wish I could meet the two of you some day and say thank you in person for your prayers, your caring, and your positive presence.
